Can Certain Foods Help Counteract Negative Side Effects?
There are a few things you can do to help curb the more common side effects like nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, bloating and mild stomach pain:
- Sip on iced water with lemon wedges
- Eat slowly, and smaller meals
- Look for meals high in water content — like soups
- Eat foods that are light and bland and low fat such as crackers, whole wheat toast and brown rice
- Drink clear or ice-cold drinks like water and unsweetened tea
- Avoid foods that are greasy, very sweet or fried foods as well as sugary drinks
- Avoid foods that are prepared with a lot of spice + flavour
- Slowly eat foods high in fibre and incorporate healthy fats
- Limiting heavily processed foods and sugary foods to avoid high blood sugar levels
- A vitamin B12 supplement could help to improve nausea responses
